Nov 20, David A. I am the author of this book, so of course you are right to take this review with a large grain of salt; however I did receive a very nice review that I'd like to share with you.
It's from Robert D. Richardson Jr. Beardsley burns with a great incandescent philosophical blaze. It is all his own and it is contagious. It is a wonderful experience just to read it. I received a copy of this book through a Goodreads Giveaway contest.

The author drew upon the teachings of the classic greek philosphers to address the different topics of his book, beauty, love, justice, etc. The author uses the words of the past to support his ideas. I foumd this to be dry read. I guess I should not have been reading this just before I went to bed. I wan not able to fully concentrate on the words. I felt the author could have done more to intrepret the words of the past for the I received a copy of this book through a Goodreads Giveaway contest.
I felt the author could have done more to intrepret the words of the past for the audience of the current. If you have an interst in philosphy, I recommend the book. If you want to learn a little bit of philosophy, this can be a good place to start.

Not a long book, just under a pages. It is through no fault of the author's that I was unable to connect with this book. I tried, but could not get past the esoteric vein, the innumerable references to myths, legends and studies of the same. I believe this book would be excellent for a college level course in Philosophy and that it would be even more fantastic for a group of readers that would like to sit over coffee and hash out ideas and let it be completely enjoyed and digested the way it should be.
